Software Update: Samsung Fascinate

I get the same as the screenshot SimplySweetness posted, but apparently unlike SimplySweetness I'm stuck with the issue.

Scenario:  I have 2 Fascinates, one for the wife and myself.  Her phone took the update, ran quickly, and all is well.  My Fascinate, not so much.  After trying a half-dozen times with no luck I rolled into the Verizon store where I had purchased, only to sit around for 2 hours while they trided another half-dozen times including a batter pull and factory reset.  As the time when on their excuses grew, but in the end they did swap for another phone.  However that phone continues to fail taking the update as well.  The time it takes to get through the update is approaching 10 minutes, and the hang is at the updating modem part (or so it seems).

I have no good answers, but I am within my 30 days and will return to the Verizon store this Monday 10/4 and sit there while they go through every Fascinate until one takes the update.

maddix **UPDATE** Sorry for the delayed post, but I took my phone back to the store and not only got it replaced with one that took the update, but also got the store to honor the online price so both phones ended up costing me $100/each.

I wish I could get this update...I have a "mesmerize" and I called U.S. cellullar and they where almost acting or are dumb about the update, like they had no idea what I was talking about or new very little....really aggrevated me!!

you won't need this update for your phone.....previous issues that i500 had were already resolved for your phone.  even gps is fixed too!

So I won't get 2.2 Froyo? It still says 2.1 update1 LOL!! You know way more than me though!!.....they did say we would be getting some type of update in january?

oh.....when you mentioned about the update, i thought you meant the JI01 on september.  yeah you do need froyo.

 I was having problems receiving the Build D101 update on my Fascinate, so after a few trips to Verizon and a few phone calls, they finally replaced my phone with the update already installed. They said there is a list from Samsung of device ESN's that are incapable of receiving the update, and it should be replaced. My ESN was not on the list according to the rep, but he replaced it anyway. When I later talked to the Manager of the Verizon store I visit, in talking about the replacement phone and the updates, he made the comment:
 "We have been told that the 2.2 update will start to be pushed out next week (Week of 1/10/11), so I wouldn't worry too much about the minor update right now. Also, checking for new updates will not do anything, they will push the update out, you cannot pull it."

 Now, I know we have all heard about the supposed "2.2 releases will be any day now..", but I never asked about a 2.2 update, or anything about it, and I thought it was funny that he mentioned it. I am not going to hold my breath for it, but thought I would throw this out there as a possibility. Again, this is a Verizon store, I am not sure about the other carriers.
