New Instruction to root Fascinate I500,install CWM Recovery&Jelly Bean[03/17/13]

This is for your own reference.  Please read Before Proceed.

The instructions of how to do the:
1. Manual recovery mode: Disconnect USB Data cable from your phone and turn it off completely-> hold both volumes, press and release power button while holding them(if you're going to main screen, you have to do it over). Once you get to CWM Recovery screen, you can use volume to go up and down and power button to execute.  
2. Download mode for odin flash: Do not check or uncheck Odin default setting, and leave it alone(Re-partition should be unchecked/Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time should be checked).  Connect USB Data cable from your phone but disconnect it from PC, turn your phone off, and take battery out-> open odin-> press volume down while plugging USB Data cable into pc-> make sure ID:COM is highlighted yellow; if your phone is not recognized(not highlighted with yellow), just plug USB out and do not proceed....you need to re-install samsung driver on your pc and try again).  

Installing ICS or Jelly Bean Rom Instruction(Install this via CWM Recovery only!!! Not in Rom Manager!!!) Just follow the big two steps

*If you are leaping from your old ICS or Jelly Bean rom to another ICS or Jelly Bean rom, use step II


I. Installing teamhacksung rom as bridge rom
*The reason why I call this a 'bridge rom' is because it opens the door for ICS and Jelly Bean ports

1. Download teamhacksung build number 1 (Do not use build2) and put this into phone SD card.

2. Make nandroid backup for your stock rom
a) Turn off your phone completely, and open up your CWM Mode manually.
b) Select backup and restore-> backup
c) upon completion, reboot the system

3.  Wiping cache
a) Turn off your phone completely, and open up your CWM Mode manually.
b) Select wipe cache partition-> yes-> go back
Select mounts and storage-> format/system-> go back
Select advanced-> wipe dalvik cache-> yes-> go back
select wipe data/factory reset->yes-> go back
*DO NOT RESTART THE SYSTEM

4. Installing the bridge rom
a) Select install zip from sdcard-> choose zip from sdcard
b) Select the folder(that you put the rom in)-> select teamhacksung_fascinatemtd-ota-eng.BUILD1.zip-> yes
c) reboot the system after completing installation

II. Installing Jelly Bean Rom 4.1.1

* You can also use this option if you are leaping from your ICS or Jelly Bean rom to another ICS or Jelly Bean.
*For flashing Helly Bean rom, read the warning in that post before you brick yourself

1. Downloading (Jellybean 4.1.1)Jellybro CM10 Rom and Gapps
a) Download Jellybro CM10.1 rom from xda developers forum and place that in your SD card

b) Download latest google apps from xda developers forum and place that in your SD card

2. Installing (Jellybean 4.1.1) Jellybro CM10.1 Rom
FROM NOW ON, DO NOT GO TO CWM RECOVERY MANUALLY TO INSTALL ROM!!!  EVER!!!  YOUR PHONE WILL BOOT LOOP!!!  ALWAYS USE POWER OPTION INSTEAD!!!
a) On the main screen, long press power button to get into phone options-> choose reboot-> choose recovery and press ok
b) repeat I-3b(Wiping Cache)
c) Select install zip from sdcard-> choose zip from sdcard
d) Select the folder(that you put the rom in)-> select 'cm-10-20120909.2153-fascinatemtd'-> select yes to install
-> while installing the rom, Samsung logo will appear once and new version(v6.0.1.0) of CWM recovery will be flashed.
e) reboot the system after installation is complete.

3. Installing lastest Google Apps
a) again...long press power button to get into phone options-> choose reboot-> choose recovery and press ok (DO NOT GO TO CWM RECOVERY MANUALLY EVER!!!)
b) Select install zip from sdcard-> choose zip from sdcard
c) Select the folder(that you put the gapp in)-> select 'gapps-jb-20120726-signed'-> select yes to install
d) reboot the system after completion

4. Installing SuperSU in replacement of SuperUser for root permissions
a) You need to replace superuser with SuperSU for root permissions.  Go to playstore and type in 'supersu' and install it.  
b) If superuser is asking for permissions, grant them everytime.
c) click on SuperSU(not superuser) and update the binary.
d) You do not need to uninstall superuser.  Just simply leave it.

You now have official version of Jelly Bean with proper root permission.  When you make nandroid for this rom, just make sure not to go into CWM recovery manually and always use power option to avoid boot loop.

SuperSU and Superuser

For flashing ICS or Jelly Bean roms from eclair, froyo, and gingerbread custom roms.....

Since we now have different rooting instructions, I advise you to odin flash everything back to gingerbread stock and start from the scratch by following first post in this thread.  Make sure transfer everything into your PC, and wipe SD card.
