1. Titanium (For your installed apps)
2. Stock DI01 Nandroid (please please please....make this before proceed)

On Windows PC, you should have (I'm sorry but I do not have solution for Mac Users):
1. Installed Samsung Driver:

Read Before Proceed!!!

The instructions of how to do the:
1. Manual recovery mode: Disconnect USB Data cable from your phone and turn it off completely-> hold both volumes, press and release power button while holding them(if you're going to main screen, you have to do it over). volume to go up and down, power button to execute, and menu button to go to previous option.  To ditch blue factory recovery mode, always select "apply sd card update zip" and use home softkey to execute. This will take you to green. Use home softkey to execute only in blue.  Other recovery screens, use power button.
2. Download mode for odin flash: Disconnect USB Data cable from your phone, turn it off, and take battery out-> open odin-> press volume down while plugging into pc-> make sure port is lighted yellow; if not your phone is not recognized, plug it out and do not proceed....you need to install samsung driver on your pc)

Installing DJ05 Custom Rom

DO NOT USE DI01 CUSTOM ROM, KERNEL, OR MODEM ON DJ05 STUFFS.  DO NOT SKIP AHEAD AND ATTEMPT MULTIPLE FLASHES AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!!! FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION AND INSTALL ONE BY ONE......
1. Flashing DJ05 Modem
-> Turn off your phone, take the battery out, and open odin.  Prepare download mode.  Check odin and make sure it's highlighted with yellow under ID:COM port(if you don't see it, do not proceed. plug usb out from phone and re-install samsung usb driver).  Click PDA, select DJ05 Modem, and click start.  Wait until Odin says 'Pass', and plug USB out.  Put your battery back in and turn your phone on.
2. Installing DJ05 Custom Rom
-> When you get to main screen, open rom manager.  Under rom manager, press menu softkey, select 'wipe downloaded cache', and press ok.  On rom manager option, select 'install from sd card', find your DJ05 Rom, uncheck 'make backup'(i assume that you have one already. if you don't, you can check this), check wipe data, and click ok to proceed.  After installing rom, select restart(or reboot) the system from green recovery screen(For some reason if you see blue, you must ditch to green first as indicated above).
3. Flashing 1129 Nonvoodoo Kernel
a) Don't panic if your phone is acting weird.  That is because you haven't flashed 1129 non voodoo Kernel yet.  Be patient until your phone is fully loaded to main screen(this takes 3~5minutes).  Once you get to main screen, turn off your phone, and manually open CWM Recovery.  On blue recovery screen, select "apply sdcard: update.zip" and hit home softkey to get to green.
b) On green recovery screen, select "Install from SD Card", select "choose zip from sd card", find 1129 nonvoodoo kernel and select, and select yes to install.  After finishing it, use your menu softkey to get back to previous option, select "restart the system", and execute.
4. Check functionality and load titanium backup
a) Once you get to main screen, check and make sure everything functions perfectly.
-> wifi, bluetooth, your email accounts, network connection, etc etc.
If you don't wanna keep your rom for some reason, follow the second instruction on the third thread to get back to your stock nandroid.  (II. DJ05 rom to stock DI01 nandroid backup Leap): http://www.samsungfascinateforum.com/samsung-fascinate-rooting/instruction-to-jump-from-dj05-to-di01-stock-nandroid-backup/
b) Download rom manager and titanium backup from market.  Check USB Debugging, and open titanium backup.  Everytime Super User comes up, just allow it.  Click menu softkey, select batch, and click on restore missing apps with data. .
5. Setup your widgets, screen, wallpaper, email accounts, music playlist, google voice, web favorites, User Interface setup, etc, etc.
6. Make nandroid using nonvoodoo1129 kernel
-> I strongly encourage you to make nandroid backup with nonvoodoo1129 kernel before flashing your DJ05 custom kernel.  To do this, open up your rom manager, select 'Backup Current ROM', name your nandroid (i usually use rom name), and click ok.  Your phone will restart upon completion.
7. Flashing DJ05 Custom Kernel
-> Turn off your phone and manually open CWM Recovery.  Ditch blue recovery to green, select "install from SD Card", select "choose zip from sd card", select your DJ05 Custom Kernel, and click yes to install it.  After finish, use menu softkey to get back to previous option and restart the system.  You're DONE!

The quick guide of how to go back to your DJ05 nandroid you made......

1. For voodoo kernel users:
a) Open CWM Recovery manually-> select voodoo-> select disable lagfix-> (allow system conversion: only if you see this option)-> restart the system.
b) Open CWM Recovery manually-> install from sd card-> choose zip from sd card-> select 1129 nonvoodoo kernel and execute-> restart the system
c) Mount your phone to PC-> open SD Card access-> find voodoo folder and delete it
d) Open CWM Recovery manually-> ditch blue to green recovery-> select wipe cache from partition and wipe it-> go back to previous menu-> select advanced-> select wipe dalvik cache and wipe it-> restart the system
e) Open your rom manager-> click backup and restore-> click restore-> find your DJ05 nandroid(don't be confused with stock nandroid)-> click ok.

2. For all other users:
a) Open CWM Recovery manually-> ditch blue recovery to green-> install from sd card-> choose zip from sd card-> select 1129 nonvoodoo kernel and execute-> restart the system
b) Open CWM Recovery manually-> ditch blue to green recovery-> select wipe cache from partition and wipe it-> go back to previous menu-> select advanced-> select wipe dalvik cache and wipe it-> restart the system
c) Open your rom manager-> click backup and restore-> click restore-> find your DJ05 nandroid(don't be confused with stock nandroid)-> click ok.

I have been looking for this tutorial for about a week! Thanks for the write up, I do however have a question.

How do we tell if we have DJ01\05 currently my phone says Build number SCH-I500.EA28

I take it I cannot use this tutorial? I however flashed CWM Recovery.
From all the warnings I assume I can't install a custom rom directly from Rom Manager?!

Woops, I'm a tard.

Flash back to DJ05 (better yet, DL09). Then you can start flashing DL09 ROMS. :-)

I don't know how to flash it back to 05\09... I even called tech support because I felt dumb Crying.

I have googled samsung 'fascinate EA28 downgrade' and came up with nothing. I don't know how to 'flash back' to an earlier firmware....

^ not your fault I'm just not well versed in Droid, your tutorial was fine I was trying to do this using multiple tutorials and for the wrong build. Not your fault in any way OP.

Ok, held my breath and manually installed a rom using CWM, it was for 05\09 build but it worked? Haven't done the kernel yet, all other mods seem to be holding.

I used CWM and navigated to the download directory of Rom Manager and installed one mod at a time from there navigating with +\- audio buttons and using the power button to anitialize the install packages.

Wow I almost turned blue it took about 3 minutes to reboot wowzer glad it isn't bricked 'knocks on wood'.

Thanks guys\gals\mods for all the help.

No I did not flash back to build 05\09 I just installed the rom on my EA28 build O_O

Yeah, that first boot is intense. Now that you know it takes some time, you wont panic (as much) the next time! Happy

I've never seen anyone flash from EA28 to a DJ05 / DL09 ROM. Are you receiving texts? Anything funky happening?

Good job, Bob! Have fun hacking your phone!! Big Smile
