Experimental kernel by JT available here, http://www.mediafire.com/?byby91bhdm1b8l5. It is capable of being overclocked to 1.2, and can be installed through ROM Manager. Just installed it, so far, so good. I've got it cranked up to 1.2, and man, does it fly. JT has warned, that if you do overclock it, be sure to just use the conservative setting, and don't set any custom profiles. We're on our way now, guys.  Big Grin

The kernels are dropping, now. I just installed a 1400 kernel. Gotta love it.  Big Grin

I just rooted my phone using z4root, and also installed rom manager.  I flashed it using clockworkmod.  when i clicked on backup current ROM(stock firmware), it rebooted my phone but coudln't back it up.  How did you do your backup?  Do I need to backup my stock firmware before I install this kernel?  Does my phone need to be in debug mode before backup my stock firmware?

Did you install clockwork using Odin?

For some reason, I couldn't get rom manager to back up my files so I decided to use another program called "Titanium Backup".  My apps are backed up now to SD card.
This is what I've done so far:
1. Z4Root to root my phone
2. Rom Manager to Flash ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.1.0
3. Attempted to 'Reboot into Recovery' using Rom Manager but failed. <~ is this necessary after flashing?
4. Titanium Backup to store my apps
5. downloaded dirk's D02-Kernel-LV-1200 to pc, but i thought i should ask someone before get this to work. <~ a) will this kernel replace my current one or can i use both?
                 b) will this kernel wipe out all pre-installed apps including factory image recovery?
                 c) is there any other safe lag fix app you can recommend?
6. downloaded odin to pc

You Can't install recovery with Rom Manager, you have to use Odin. Instructions can be found here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788099

I prefer Geeknik's StupidFast Kernels. You can get them in Rom Manager, under SonofSkywalker's rom.

Should I download 1.5 or test version 1.5.4?

I'm Using 1.5.4. Just be aware, if you haven't upgraded to DJ05, and are still on DI01, you will lose haptic feedback, with either of them.

I have another question.  When froyo 2.2 comes out, do I need to unflash clockworkmod recovery and unroot it in order to receive the update(currently running on stock kernel, and none of roms installed), or just unroot it without unflashing it?

I would wait until the devs get a hold of it, and make the necessary mods, so all you will have to do is flash it through Rom Manager. We'll probably see it before it's official, anyway.
