My Fascinate in the Dominican Republic

Hello my name is Ken. I have moved from Apple's iphone world to the Android world and I love this phone. I have been trying to educated myself on how to root, install ROM's etc. and I almost bricked it so I need your help. There is so much info out there where do I start. Here is my details of the phone and what happened briefly.

Firmware ver.= 2.1-update1
Baseband ver.= S:i500.04 V.EB01
Kernel ver.= 2.6.29
Build number= sch-i500.DH12

My son sent me this phone and I factory reset is with Odin and installed EB01 mod. Then I wanted to install something more eye catching and efficient on battery use so here I almost bricked it trying to install custom ROM's and Themes from websites which are some not very clear since I am a newbie to the Android world.

Now my phone running the factory setting with the info that I have given you above. Things are working very good on the phone and i am not rooted. Android market will not open.

I don't have anything to lose on this phone so I can wipe out everything and start fresh but I need your help to install something nice and efficient. I was thinking something like Cyanogen with an eye pleasing Theme.

Thanks for your reply but I have solved my problem of not being able to root. It seemed to me that whatever was done to the phone that I was in between root and no root. When I used the root checker to check my root it said that no root access but the busybox was installed correctly. I was not rooted and it seems that I was and I could not install Titanium.

It is a bit technical but it is better that the others that I have seen even the OneClick method because the OneClick method did not work for me but this one did if you follow the instructions to a "T". Now I am ready to flash my favorite Custom ROM
