Hi there everyone.
I'm Chris from the UK, and I'm a technology addict. It's a problem I know.
I probably spend at least an hour every day keeping on top of my tech through various websites, you'll probably find me on a few by the cfhuk pseudonym.
Recently I've moved from an iPhone to a Motorola Milestone, then, not happy with that, to a Google Nexus One, then, irritated by it's keyboard (lack of sensitivity on the bottom keys), to a BB Bold 9700, then sold that and went old skool to a Nokia 5230 for symbian simplicity; that and it was only £80 ($140?) and had native podcast downloading and built in maps and SatNav.
As well as the phones I like my PCs, owning a bunch of old laptops that have mostly gone in the bin now, a second hand powermac G4 MDD dual 1GHz (overclocked via openfirmware) and my current PC, an i7 @4.2GHz with twin GTX260s and 4GB of DDR3 2200MHz (OC'd from 2000), and two intel SSDs in RAID 0 for my boot drive. It makes a hell of a hackintosh.
I have owned a couple of mac laptops, most notably a MacBook Pro 2.2GHz C2D from which I swapped out the CD drive and ran it with two 320GB WD Scorpio Black HDDs in RAID 0. Also had a brief period with an iMac DV but that was eBay fodder for £50 and 450MHz isn't really my thing.
I have just pre-ordered a Fascinate a few days back and I'm here to find out more and hopefully provide more information to and from this forum. I made my decision to get a Fascinate based a little on the Hummingbird vs Snapdragon article by electrofreak, so if it's rubbish the blame goes to him (and vice versa, it was a good article). It's nice to see people around who will put in the effort to decipher the real facts behind performance of devices rather than just throwing praise at hardware unknowing of it's limitations. It's kind of what I do when I'm weighing stuff up as well, such as why I recently went with an X58 motherboard over a cheaper P55 one, despite P55s advantages w/r/t compatibility with OSX, so buy him a beer if he gets that feature going.
I hope me being here is going to be more of a help to a lot of people rather than a hindrance. Let me know if I'm wrong anywhere, I won't take it hard.
Cheers everyone, hope you like your Fascinate's when they arrive, we should have a lot more to talk about then.
