Where do I start? Please help a noob!

Hi guys,
I just recently bought my Fascinate in Korea and Im confused regarding the firmware.
I already getting some lag and Id like to upgrade to what most of the members here are using. I heard updating firmware or to 2.2 helps a lot. But I dont know where to start. Is the firmware through Kies the same as upgrading to Android 2.2 ?
I currently have Firmware 2.1 update1 on my phone.

What should I do first? The firware etc. is a little confusing for me.
I also have a problem with "Market" I cant find any games to download when I search.
Maybe because its the region Im in.
How can I get access to the games that all of you are using??

Android 2.2 is not out officially, until Sept, jus hang in there. i read if u upgrade to beta 2.2 now, there's no flash.
u can do something for the lag-ness like killing background apps and turning off some other stuff. read this:-

not sure why the market is not workin for u. GPRS/3G or wifi should be enable. or do u have any data plan from your carrier.
