Ok, so I'm not an idiot.  I'm typically the one friends turn to for help with phones.  This phone is annoying me to no end.  I've had issues with ringtones.  Thought I had it figured out, with help from people here, but still not fixed.  I was getting only the default tone for texts.  Then I was getting my downloaded tone and the default tone.  Now I'm only getting the default one again, despite my attempt to turn that one off and only have the downloaded one play.  In fact, I've selected the downloaded tone but the default one plays.  Go figure!

For the past week it's been annoying me that I was getting a tone when I received a Gmail message.  I've turned that off but now it's not even acknowledging any Gmails at all.  In fact this morning I tried to look at them and had to manually download them.  No clue why.

Also, when the phone freezes, and it does this alot, I have to power down.  Fine sort of.  When I try to get it to turn on again it takes forever for the power button to actually respond.  When the screen comes on I get a blue screen telling me that I have to reboot.  I hit the home key and the screen goes black and then the phone starts powering up normally again.  What gives?

Please let me know what I'm doing wrong.  Our month trial isn't up for 3 weeks but I know that the buy one get one free offer at verizon ends at the end of the month and we have to make a decision by then.

Thank you!

I wish I can there so I could help you.  Here are some questions I wanna ask you.
1. Did you download and install any 3rd party android apps related to ringtone or text messaging?
-If that's so, uninstall them.  Sometimes those apps can sync to your phone and take control over your ringtones.
2. How did you manage to set outside ringtone for your text in the first place?  Did you do it with software or manually without software?
3. You have auto cleaning program or task killer?
-> If you have any, then uninstall them.  Those will crash and create lags.  Just use "task manager" that came with the phone
4. What's status of your memory?
- Normal working RAM should run between 245~275MB. If it's over 275MB, you'll experience some freezing at least once a day; your phone will definitely freeze more when it goes over 300MB.  To dump out some memory, you need to do 3 things.
a) uninstall some useless apps (program memory shouldn't be running more than 130MB)
b) install a program called "startup auditor"(you can get one at android market). it disables startup programs and reduces RAM usage.
c) change your live wallpaper to "simple kind" such as black wallpaper. it reduces RAM as well as your battery too.  You can switch it back once your OS runs smoothly.
*I currently have 245MB/325MB RAM and 108MB/1.55GB for program memory.
5. Do you use launcher pro user interface?
-> I personally think that Touchwiz 3.0 has better looking widgets.  However, as far as smooth scrolling or lag situation goes, Launcher pro does far better job than touchwiz.

As of today, I have no lag or crash issues at all.  I compared my phone to Iphone4 to see which one was running faster, and I pretty much pwned iphone4 in every way.

Thanks for your help.  I've got the ring tones all set finally.  I did what you suggested and got rid of the aps I had installed and the problem cleared up.  Interesting.  I didn't have any cleaning or task killers on there.  I have just been using the task manager that came with the phone.  I got rid of quite a few of the useless and stupid aps that I had installed.  You know how it is...you get a new phone and you just start putting everything on it that you can.  All are gone except for the ones I really want.

I'm still trying to figure out my bluetooth.  Any advice for that?  Our car has bluetooth installed and with my previous phone (LG envy touch) the car would automatically answer every call that came in.  With this phone I have to turn the bluetooth on manually on the phone and even then today it ignored an incoming call.  Not really sure how to correct the problems.  If indeed there is a problem...this could just be how the phone is designed.  Sure wish I could get an actual manual.

As far as I know, if your device has automatic or smart pairing, fascinate will always automatically connect.  I think it has to do with your car kit preference.  Look on your car kit and search if there is any manual or automatic options for connectivity.
