I plug in my samsung i9000 and Kies loads up automaticly and in the far top right corner it has an icon that says EXT Memory (I:).  To the left of that there is a popup that says "reconnect the device on Samsung Kies(PC Studio) mode.  Kies Doesn't support this connect mode."  What does this mean? If I clcik ok then it says samsung I900 connection terminated.   Very frustrated please help

Hi,

I just bought my Samsung Fascinatepica on tuesday and Kies has been working fine until today. After an update on Kies I'm being given this message:

"Reconnect the device on Samsung Kies(PC Studio) mode. Kies doesn't support this connect mode."

What do I do? I haven't read anything about a "connect mode" and there's no such thing in options.

Do this:

Home Screen -> Settings Button [Lower Right] -> About Phone [Last Option] -> USB Settings -> Set this to 'Ask me everytime' and now use an appropriate mode each time you connect for different purposes.

Btw, you should also see a Kies option there. This is what you should use.

I can't seem to find this anywhere in "About Phone". Do I have to connect the phone to the computer to see the USB Settings option?

on my About Phone screen I see
Status
Battery use
Legal Information
System Tutorial
USB settings <- press this

on the USB settings you'll see Samsung Kies, media player etc.

I tried setting to Mass storage. When I connect to my Vista computer it sees a drive but says it's empty. Kies was working yesterday but today it just flashes back and forth. I've been taking out my SD card and plugging it into by computer directly to transfer files. It's a pain.

Then I saw this thread... http://www.samsungfascinateforum.com/samsung-fascinate-how-to/when-i-try-usb-mode-the-message-'insert-disk'-is-shown!-help!/

I just bought my Galaxy S Fascinate on 110916.  I had this issue, called Samsung at 1-888-751-4078 and here's the solution they gave me.  I am now up and running with no problems so far.  BTW they were very helpful and patient.

1. Make sure your USB cable is plugged into a port on the BACK of the PC.
2. Go into SETTINGS > APPLICATIONS > USB SETTINGS
It will ask - Turn USB debugging off?  YES
A menu will pop-up that has SAMSUNG KIES at the top - CHOOSE SAMSUNG KIES
3. REBOOT PC and PHONE
4. After Reboot of PC,  LAUNCH SAMSUNG KIES
5. Connect phone when prompted.

That's what worked for me.  I have been able to connect, upgrade firmware and add music, photo and video files to my phone.

Good luck!!

Mike
