Hi all,

I have a couple of weather apps on my Fascinate which use geolocation.

Using phone at home they correctly show my location, but at work in nearby town they show that I'm in Bolton, some 200+ miles away.

Don't understand how the location is so far out but wonder if work's Virgin cable broadband has anything to do with it.

Any thoughts?

I have tried enabling and disabling "use wireless networks". Can't get my head around where it gets Bolton from. It locates fine at home with AOL on BT line, but states Bolton at work with cable Virgin broadband network.

Have you enabled GPS? This gives a more accurate fix than wireless.

Yes, but no GPS signal in building. Once outside, the GPS does fix the location until I go back inside, then it's back to Bolton location!

Then the problem may be the GPSA settings. Go to the telephone keypad and type in *#*#1472365#*#*

Choose Application Settings from the secret menu that appears. Under Operation Mode choose MS Based.

Go back a level and choose SUP/CAL Settings. Enter supl.Google.com in the server box and 7276 in the port settings.

Back all the way out and restart the phone. Having done this I get a faster GPS fix as the supl server feeds the phone satellite coordinates.

Just noticed you're using cable in one location. Unlike wifi or network cable will not give a location fix. Bolton is probably the nearest cable relay!

Thanks, I think you've cracked it. I disconnected work's wi-fi and the location corrected itself.

Does anyone know if you can change settings in the router (Belkin) to stop it sending a false location?
