The thing is that, if you create a folder named Notifications, the software somehow confuses it with the existing folder bearing the same name.

Did you really connect the phone in Mass Storage mode? Or did you by chance use Kies or the Media Player mode?

Yes, in mass storage mode.

I never use Kies, it's way too complicated. I can do all I want using mass storage mode.

In Mass Storage mode, the phone offers its storage on sector level, the file system is handled on the PC. Thus, the effect you are seeing is a software issue on the PC, not on the phone. I'm not seeing this effect.

Are you using Windows Vista or 7 and possibly stumbling over it's "virtual folder name" feature in Explorer? Try using the drives in the "Command Prompt", if you're familiar with that. You shouldn't see the effect there.

Just make a notification folder on your SD card in the phone. Then set all of your tones on in there. They'll show up on the menu for notifications in each app.
