I know i'm no the only one with battery drain issues after this update. My battery drains almost twice as fast before froyo. We waited sooooo long for this? Ugggg. Need a GOOD fix for this other than toggleing the mobile data button on and off all day just to save a little battery life. There HAS to be a better solution. Either from Verizon/Samsung or a Tech wiz. PLEASE HELP US!!!

Try doing a soft reset, power off your phone, and take your battery out of your handset and leave it out for 2 minutes.  Put battery back in, then recharge to full with charger before using again.  Right now battery level meter isn't accurate with Official Froyo.

If that doesn't work, back up all your data with backup tool and do a factory reset.

I had already tried the soft reset with little change. I will be trying the hard reset next. Seems the only to go now.  Big Grin Undecided Shocked

Don't bother, the only thing the hard reset will do is speed up your phone dramatically.  The battery life is abysmal I take back what I said earlier.  I have already complained to Galaxy S tech support via the phone.  I urge you to do the same if you don't mind Happy

Just to add to the complaint pile: my battery also drains much faster after the 2.2 update.  Seems like a big step backward to me.  I already thought the battery life was a bit short, but now it's even worse.

FulaMan, you are suggesting that we contact Samsung tech support, not Verizon?

Yup...I upgraded a few days ago and my battery life is awful.  I used to get almost 24 hours, more if I didn't do too much.  Now I'm lucky to get 10 hours of minimal usage before it goes into low battery warning.  I've done soft resets and am contemplating the hard reset but don't want to go thru the trouble if it won't work.  I have complained to both Verizon and Samsung.  This sucks.

Ok, here's my update. I preformed the hard reset, which I do recommend that helped the phone but not
much for the battery. I went to the verizon store I bought the phone from and without blinking they set me up with a new battery! Now battery life is better. Phone still has locked up one me once in the past week but overall happy now. Good luck!

I had this problem, and for me the fix was simply to change the WiFi sleep policy, which must have been changed with the update to 2.2.  I changed it from "Never" to "Never when plugged in," and that seems to have done the trick.  I also removed and reinserted the battery, but I don't think that was what fixed it.  The setting is under "wireless & network - Wi-fi settings - Advanced - WiFi sleep policy"

Thank you!!! This seems to be working!
With the extended battery, I was getting up to 3 days between charges. After FROYO update, that dropped to about 7 hours (when not in use battery was still draining.)
I had searched many forums and have tried several different solutions and none have provided any additional battery life until this.
After 2 days I still have 75% remaining.
