Hi,

I don't know if I am the only one facing this problem, but my Fascinate battery has to be recharged very often... and I am not a big user !

From what I can see in the settings menu (about phone), the screen is the most avid consumer of power. Yet, it is difficult to use the device without having the screen turn on.

In short, it seems to me that the battery is not adapted to this device : not enough capacity.

I hope that Samsung will offer, as Apple does for its I Phone, extra batteries that can be fitted to the back panel and extend a lot the usage of the device without having to recharge.

Does anyone know if Samsung has planned to release such extra batteries ?

You could try fiddling with the screen settings, e.g. reduce the screen brightness and/or shorten the idle timeout after which the screen shuts off. You could also make it a habit to press the power button on the right side shortly whenever you're done using the phone, which makes the screen shut off immediately. Maybe that could get you some extra mileage out of the battery...

I downloaded a widget showing the battery usage. I was amazed to see that after less than 1 hour of phone usage, the battery was already down to 80%.

Samsung has to do something about this !

My case, fully charged to 100%. Did not use the phone for 1 hour after unplugged from charger.

Then started using the phone (battery status still indicates 100%)- checking email via 3G connection. After 20 minutes of emailing, battery status indicates 88%.

Man... battery being drained so fast. And by the way, all the while using 3G connection, the back cover feels hot.

And yes, Samsung better come out with something to counter this issues.

It is like, having an awesome phone, but can't heavily use it, unless you carry the charger around, and hope people are kind enough to permit you to use their wall socket to charge up your phone.

Use the home screen widget or the free app Quick Settings to keep GPS, Wifi, AutoSync off unless you need them.
Use phone menu and/or Quick Settings shortcut to change to 2G only when you don't need 3g.

Other than that the battery will improve after about a weeks use. Never let it discharge to 0 or keep it at 100% too long (hence the fully charged warnings)

A quick question,

- Enable [Use Only 2G Network] function
- 3G icon disappear from the home screen
- Disable [Use Only 2G Network] function
- Shouldn't the 3G icon re-appear on the home screen?

After I enable & disabling [Use Only 2G Network] function, the 3G icon didn't appear on my home screen. Tried online via 3G connection, unsuccessful.

Have to restart phone, only 3G re-appear on the home screen and could online via 3G.

Anyone had this issue?
