I would like to start a topic to concentrate all bugs and problems with Fascinate, and maybe get some solutions. Here are my problems:

1. Call waiting (a call received during another call) will most likely stop the current call and send the phone into a spin.

2. E-mail does not sync automatically according to the "Email check frequency" setting. I really need a fix for this, as I have 8 E-mail accounts which refuse to sync automatically.

3. Problems connecting to Samsung Kies. There are some work-around though: use mass storage USB connection, use sync with gmail for contacts and calendar, etc.

4. GPS problems. Apparently there is a fix for this:
http://www.intomobile.com/2010/07/21/t-mobile-samsung-vibrant-galaxy-s-gps-issues-fix-tutorial/

Any other problems and solutions ?

My bro has the Vibrant for TMobile and it opens random things that he doesnt open. He will close everything with a taskmanager, then just use like the internet or something and then when he checks the taskmanager again, a bunch of random apps and stuff like email, games, random shit is open. Then he has to close them, even though he never opened that stuff. Does anyone else have that issue every? Random things showing up in taskmanager? Any solutions?

Problems we all have include:
- Kies is unstable, but most importantly, even with the 1.5.1.0083 release it screws up
Microsoft Sync Framework on Vista machines. If you use eg. SyncToy, you have to
unstall both and reinstall (which incidentically makes you loose all you backup settings)
[I do know to save your sync pairs, if any one is interested]
- Kies has serious problems in sync'ing Outlook calensar (contacts work). It may screw up
your Outlook calendar data (repeated appointments)
- WiFi is intermittent and basically useless
- Email accounts does not auto sync'
- Email does not let you chose which folders to subscribe for in IMAP - very bad
- If you turn off MyCalendar, all new appointments are still landing there
- Calendar reminder is totally useless and cannot be changed without rooting
- Cannot call directly from a calendar item (Description field), which should be standard
- Applications are starting all the time, with no relevance to what you are doing
  hogging memory
- Support on Web is just unprofessional. The firmware update and Kies update sites
does not have the necessary information (dates and what is fixed log, etc.)
- And what is worse, phone support does have in information on what is in the fixes either.
- A beautiful toy for those who have time to paly, nothing more.

I love the fascinate
and yes, ti it more of a tinkerer's phone than something out of the box that works, like th iphone.
if you want something that is not able to be customized to your liking then an iPhone is what you want.
I like the fact that I can make it look the way I want and put the apps on it that I want, and put the music on it that I want, when I want, where i want without having to do a full backup and sync.

Anyways, the issue I just discovered is that my calendar won't sync
I set an item in the Calendar and set it to use my gmail account calendar and it never shows up in my google calendar.

Hi. Yes, I hate Apple's walled garden, overpricing, etc., so that is why I went for the top Android telephone. However, I live from billing my time, and my only point is that as a business tool it is hopelesly inadequate. I will not toss it way until 2.2 arrives, so I can se what improvements it will bring, but in my work life I will revert back to my HTC HD2 with old 6.5 and Sense. It is a work horse, sync's evertyhing like dream, battery last for a long day, etc. but the screen is utterly useless outdoors, so much so that I bought the Fascinate. And AMOLED is the only screen that can be used outside, that is for sure. UM

Funny, I never had a problem with email sync. The gmail app works and so does the ymail app. Ymail actually syncs everytime your phones connected - which i dont like since i dont generally like my gadgets going on autopilot.

As for gps, latest update is supposed to fix that but please do backup your apps and data prior to updating. I suggest mybackup pro for this.

Well, what you sync may play a role. I have 35 Mb of calendar data (hrs logs), conference calls, etc. which flies into the HD2 without problems.

I have, as many others have, discovered that the alarm clock does not work if the Fascinate is "sleep" mode (if. screen off). That is another issue to add to my list. This bug/error is completely inexcusable – what use is it then? If you leave it on, there is no battery to sound the alarm in the morning. Just another indication that Fascinate is just a hype and no serious tool.

In addition to the already mentioned GPS and alarm clock issues, I would like to share another one - selecting custom ring tones for calls, alarm or notifications. The phone offers such option, however it does not work! Then why the hell it is there? I have found a workaround, but I shouldn't have, should I? I had quite some faith in Samsung providing adequate support for such a high-end device, but so far I've seen none!!!

1. Never occurred to me before, but I'll keep this in my mind.
2. Sometimes task killer or auto kill can disable your sync function which it happened to me once.  Be sure your sync feeds and sync services are always running, and do not disable them.
3. I'm not sure how to answer this problem, so I'll leave it up to rest of members Happy
4. Does this method work on fascinate too?

Yeah, unfortunately you just have to wait for dj05 software update to come by. it will fix your GPS issue.  #4 switches from "operation mode" to "MS Based" on your GPS; it basically allows google to take control over the phone's navigation as well as location services.  This might work on other variants but not on fascinate.

I'm having a strange issue. When I use the Market -Droid native app - my icons & widgets all disappear from my home screen, and I have to restart the phone to get them back. Intermittent problem, really annoying.
