first off, this IS my first post. im not a complete noob, but im not a technical genius.  Sticking out tongue

ok well heres the story, i recently found out there was an update for my fascinate (verizon), i was pretty excited and decided to download it. so i downloaded it and when it was finished, i hit "ok" to install. i got the black screen with the sort of, un-packing symbol, i guess. thats when i walked away from my phone thinking it would take a while. i came back about 10 minutes later asuuming it was done, and it was at the samsung symbol. i thought this was normal so i waited. i ended up waiting another 10 min, nothing happened, and it was still at the sammy symbol. thats when i turned it off by removing the battery. i tried to turn it on and it again stayed at the samsung symbol. so i removed the batt a second time and tired to boot it up in recovery mode ( vol- + power). a bunch of code scrolled across the screen and it said a bunch of stuff under the normal recovery screen. when i tried to use the volume keys to move through the options, nothing happened. i cant even hit the power button to select "reboot". i also tried plugging the device into my PC so i could use odin. but the phone wont go into download mode. now, heres the weird part; when i plugged it into the wall and tried download mode, it worked. but not when i plugged it into the PC. i tried to plug it into the wall activate download mode again, but it wouldnt work.

im starting to get worried as i really dont want send it in or get a new phone. so please youre help would be so greatly appreciated. if you can figure a way out of this, by any means please help. i dont care if i loose all my data on my phone. im desperate.

U have to turn off phone (make sure it is not plugged to the pc), take off the battery and leave it off, press the volume down button and leave it pressed and plug the usb cable while you are pressing the volume down button/rocker. it will go into download mode, there should be a picture of an android character with a shovel. make sure you install the usb drivers for the phone before you do all of this, everything should be on the post.

You might have to send it to verizon. Have you checked the xda-developers' forums?

.I know what you mean! However, I did not go to a store but I did seriously consider it. I just decided to call customer support to see of they could help at all. I didn't have insurance, but it turns out that I had about 6 months left on the warranty that came with the device. I had no idea it came with a year warranty, but as I now understand, it does! So if you have had it for less than a year, I would recommend calling Verizon's customer service and check.

Well, that's somewhat of a relief! I got it in February so I'm under a year! I will have to go into the store however, because this is my only phone so I don't have another that I can call from! I checked and luckily Verizon stores open at 10am here on Sundays. I hope they don't give me a hassle! Thanks for your help! And wish me luck!
