The alarm clock doesn't work when my phone is swiched off.
Does anybody know how to set it to work when the phone is swiched off.
I don't want to leave the phone swiched on all night.

Hi jwhunt,

I think it's pretty logic that when your phone is switched off, that it doesn't sound the alarm. It's not running in standby mode or something, it really is completely off. So the alarm application cannot run at all ...
Either you have to leave your phone on or you'll have to buy a regular alarm clock ...

Hi SkySnake

I wouldn't say that's it's pretty logic, that when the phone is swiched off that the alarm doesn't work. I have had a number of phones over the years and my last one being a Samsung. They all worked while swiched off. That's is why I asked my question.

Completely agree here my last phone you could have it switched off and the alarm would work, you have to keep the Samsung on for the alarm to work and thats such a shame when you dont want to.

This is my first Samsung device.

I reckon other Samsung phones have an alarm power-up function, which turns on the phone when your alarm goes off. The Function Guide (which likely is an overview of general Samsung device capabilities) downloadable here http://www.samsungmobile.com.sg/support/softwaremanuals/software.do?phone_model=GT-I9000&sw_type=UM indicates as much. See the section titled "Alarms".

For some reason, however, they did not include this function in the Fascinate. Strange decision, really, given that it's a relatively battery-intensive device and would have greatly benefited from having it.

hi all,
I've noticed that, so I thought disconnecting the phone from the network will save some battery but the flight mode looks like it's not customizable (pls someone tell me I'm wrong) ended up waking up 1h late since the phone had no sounds on while on "flight mode".

not gonna do it again... but I need to test this carefully before saying it's andoid's fault Sticking out tongue

Hello guys,

I do think its is a shame, that the alarm does not work while the phone is switched off. I got late for work today because of that. I too had other phones being Nokia mostly and one Samsung - all of them had the function to turn the alarm on , even when the phone is powered off. See the clock continues to work even when the phone is off, so WHY does it not turn ON the alarm ???
A friend has the HTC Desire. It turns off when its battery charge is low. But it continues to sound the alarm and even sound when emails come in.
So why the heck , Samsung Galaxy does not do it ? And dont flame that if I turned off my phone I meant not to hear a sound from it. I do hope this gets fixed, or combined with the clumsy GPS ... Ima gonna switch to HTC , which would be a shame. .. Get your act together , Samsung !

That the alarm clock does not work if the Fascinate is "sleep" mode (if. screen off) is just laughable - Samsung cannot be serious. This bug/error is completely inexcusable – what use is it then. If you leave it on, there is no battery to sound the alarm in the morning. Just another indication that Fascinate is just a hype and no serious tool.
