I have read numerous posts on various forums that people have been able to get the TV Out to work on their Galaxy S phone - but none of them actually mention the model number, and Samsung seems famous for have some models support some functionality and others not...

I have a Galaxy Fascinate model SGH-T959D (Telus  Canada version). I first tried a standard 3.5mm to RCA audio/video cable, but it didn't work. I read on some forum that the width of the connectors on the 3.5mm end differ, and you have to get the right cable. So I thought I won't dick around, and ordered the actual Samsung 3.5mm to RCA TV Out cable (part # ECC1TX1BBEGSTA) - which says right on the box it supports Galaxy S  handsets... well. you guessed it.. still doesn't work - I get a scrambled video and no audio.

I tested the cable using our Zune 120 - works fine.

Called Samsung support - ha - what a laugh - the support person told me the only way to connect it to a TV was using the USB out, and it only worked on a USB equipped TV. I guess she hasn't read the Galaxy S manual...

So I turn to you good people - the actual users.. and want to see if anyone out there with the same phone I have has been able to get this to work - and if you did, please let me know what cable you are using. I suspect for some reason this feature is somehow disabled on my phone - even though I have a TV Out setting to enable/disable.. but hopefully someone can prove me wrong.

Thanks in advance

The only way I know is through AllShare. You need to have DLNA certified tv or other device. Look here for more information. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SCH-I500RKAVZW#

Samsung has a video showing how to stream with AllShare. Good luck!!

So your saying the TV Out that the manual describes and that my phone has the function to enable/disable does not work? That would be a real bummer.. really looking forward to streaming Simpsons to my TV....

I guess I missed the model number in your first post. I was referring to the USA Verizon model SGH-i500 Fascinate. This phone does not support video out except as I posted above. Sorry for any confusion.

Is this an HDMI out or a TV out that you have? I think some Galaxy S models have an HDMI out.  That said you would need a proprietary HDMI phone to TV cable.  If you can take a picture of your phones port(s) and post them here.

Hi - it's just the normal headphone jack.. it's supposed to double as a TV output (not HDMI) - see the page in the Galaxy S manual:
http://galaxys.samsungmobile.com/userguide/userguide/connectivity/a8_b5_c0_d0.html

I even ordered the official Samsung cable - a 3.5mm to 3 x RCA jacks (yellow/video, audio/red&white). Tried it on 3 different TV's - one a very new LG.

I have read that many can get it to work, but also that many cannot.. wondering if it's my actual model, and why would it NOT work on my model... anyone from Samsung read this forum? and care to comment?

Right now, the American Galaxy S Fascinate does not have this feature.  I don't know why, but I think it is because of Verizon.  Those cheapskates removed it.  It is on the Captivate and Vibrant.  Check out this video!!!! I'm a bit upset now.  They better add it into their Froyo build.

The cable for it too is pretty inexpensive like $3 - $10

Just wondering - did you get the phone to work on the tv out option as I could not make out whether you got the answer to your question or not. I have the same phone from Telus - SGH-T959D
If so - how did you do it?
Thanks

Ok - here's what I did
I bought a Nokia CA-75U TV-Out video AV cable and when I first tried it out it did not work. What I think that happened was there was not a good connection with the phone. I tried it again but made sure that the cable was inserted all the way in the port and it worked just fine.
Good luck
