Hi everyone,
For those of you that have the Samsung Car Dock -- are you really happy with it?

I travel a lot and have to stow my dock/GPS/etc in my luggage and the Samsung unit seems unnecessarily large.

The only other option is a universal mount, which seems worst.

Do you guys think there is demand for a smaller, lighter alternative?

I'm thinking of starting a KickStarter project to make one, but I'm concerned there won't be enough demand.  I'd probably need to sell say 500 for $20 each with shipping to make it worth it.

Would you guys tag in or are you happy enough with the existing solution?

PS.  My thought was to supply it with a "standard" suction base, but make it compatible with an off the shelf extended length "truck" suction bases and other off the shelf options like motorcycle or bicycle mounts.

Hmmm....
This is my first post...Shall I be diplomatic? Nah...why dilute my feelings trying to be all nicey nice.

The car mount is a piece of crap...that being said I think that would be an affront to turds everywhere...they aspire to be turds and succeed remarkably by doing what they were intended to do upon creation...be turds.

The Sammy Car dock for the Fascinate however looks like it is a remarkable design...The arm on it hiuders any real adjustment and the swivel ball is a pos. The phone fits in the dock like that warm cozy spot in your bed that is there after you get up in the middle of the night to take a leak. The Slide for the USB/3.5mm portion locks into the phone effortlessly...this however is where the trouble starts.

the phone goes into portrait...and stays there. That 3.5 jack...useless(wont work til 2.2) that bluetooth headset you have...useless(phone is forced into speaker phone mode- once again told it will work with 2.2)

Heres the best part....while in portrait mode you are locked into the Verizon suite of crap(bing/vz-nav/etc)

Only way to use it s to rotate the cradle in the ball joint and install the phone 180 degrees and plug the usb in to the phone directly.

I dont mind but that isn't what I paid for and i cant return it...only exchange( as it has electronic component to it ) for THE SAME MOUNT...so I essentially have a $50 universal mount that I could have nabbed for $14 off of amazon....

I would welcome a more compact workable mount
